Researchers share their tips and experiences on communicating research through social media
Social media provides researchers with valuable opportunities to connect and engage with a wide audience – from colleagues and experts to politicians, journalists, and decision-makers. The ways researchers use these platforms, as well as the benefits they gain, can vary greatly.
You are warmly invited to a digital session where three Lund University researchers, active on different social platforms, share their insights, experiences, and practical tips.
There will also be time for discussion and Q&A, so bring your questions!
Organized by Corporate Communication.
When? 17 November, 12:00–13:30
For whom? For researchers and PhD students — whether you’re considering getting started, are already active, or perhaps managing an account on the side. Communication professionals are also welcome to join.
How? Lunch webinar on Teams. The link will be sent with the invitation.

Speakers:
Andreas Bergh – Economics researcher who, after years of successful blogging, has moved his outreach to Substack – a platform for publishing and distributing newsletters directly to subscribers. Listen to his reflections on the pros and cons of using different platforms to communicate research.
Nils Gustafsson – Researcher in political communication, social media, and political participation. Nils mainly uses LinkedIn to share research, connect with students, colleagues, and other relevant professionals, and to expand his network strategically. He will discuss why LinkedIn has become his preferred platform for research communication.
Kim Nicholas – Researcher in sustainability studies, will discuss how researchers can use social media effectively in a rapidly changing media and societal landscape. She will touch on BlueSky – a relatively new social platform still in development- but focus broadly on productive strategies for researchers.
